Bliss Dinner/Show Reservations

We are sailing Alaska June 9th.  We chose the free dining as one of our "free" options.  Do I really need to reserve before we go on the cruise for specialty dining?  If so, how far in advance?

Same question for the shows.  I have no idea if we will be in the mood to see any of the shows.  What has been the chance for walk ins?

When you guys say book early, do you mean months, weeks, a week before.........?

Specialty dining reservations are usually offered around the 120 day mark. You don't have   to do anything but you run the risk of disappointment of sold out shows and dining time slots that you want that are unavailable since you didn't reserve. Your cruise, your risks ...... May or may not work out for you.

Book both shows (first) then dinners exactly 120 days prior to departure (130 if you are in the Haven). That is on or about Feb 09, 2019.

Normally, a dinner will block 2.5 hours on your calendar. So, if you book a 5:30 dinner, the earliest show you could book is 8:00 pm. (i.e., can't get the early show). You can try, but if the system does not show the early show as available, that's why.

The online booking system has been kinda flaky lately. So, you may have to call and talk to a reservation agent. DO NOT wait for the online system to start working. Call for reservations if you can't do it yourself. at the 120 day mark.

Remember, once you are on board, you can also book comedy shows in The Social. Comedy shows run 50 minutes. Early shows are family oriented. Late shows are 18+

Your show schedule will be different, but here is an example from last year's Alaska sailings

Enjoy!
