curacao

We've been to Curacao on a Sunday. The downtown area is pretty dead. Most shops are closed, floating market is kinda pathetic, synagogue is closed. The aquarium is open, along with its various activities. Ship and private tours are not affected. If you want to walk around downtown almost everything is closed except for a few restaurants. If you are young or young at heart, I would suggest that you check out Irie Tours. We did the All West Beach Hopping Tour last year and they kept us occupied for 6 hours. It is an old school bus with the windows out and holes in the floor, but we had a great time.

We will usually arrange to rent a car (Avis has an office right at the Mega Pier) and drive off to various places on the island.  If the weather is good we will usually head to the Northwest (towards Westpunt) where we have a few favorite smaller beaches that are OK for snorkeling (we have our own equipment) and relaxing.
