megsie Posted February 5, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2019 Here’s a snapshot from Aria looking towards Explorer. We’re on Explorer, the reef runners and tenders are here but so is the rain!
Kiwi Kruzer Posted February 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2019 Have a nice day. It will be busy at the marina with 2 ships landing passengers. Try and stay dry.🙂
sewgood Posted February 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2019 Poor Queensland. It looks like they are still getting rain. What are reef runners? I hope you see some sun today.
megsie Posted February 6, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted February 6, 2019 Luckily now Airlie Beach now has 2 tender berthing areas. One at Abell Point marina used by P&O and RC using the newer Port Airlie marina. Doesn't look like any possibility of the sun coming through at this stage as it has rained consistently, sometimes we can see the shore but more often not. The seas are not too bad though for tendering. We call the quick boats out to the reef 'reef runners' or sprinters as I remember catching one some time ago from Cairns that was actually called Reef Runner. I think a lot have decided not to go into the port, which is a shame as around 4000 or so people in town would help the local economy along. sewgood Posted February 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2019 Thanks Megsie for explaining what a Reef Runner is. I think I have seen them up at Port Douglas. They are the boats you want to catch back to the ship if you want a fast ride.
