handbellplayer Posted April 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Weird title – sorry! I am looking for a previous thread that described a method (involved a magnet) for keeping your cabin air conditioning from shutting off when your balcony door was propped open. I should have saved it – so sorry! Can someone direct me to the thread (I tried SEARCH with no luck)? I love the sound of the ocean, but DH requires AC. Help! Thanks in advance. CruiseFever Posted April 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2004 No but I can tell you that if you open your cabin door on some classes of Carnival ships that the AC automatically turns off because of a magical circuit is left incomplete. If you want the door open and the AC on at the same time you'll have to "fool" the system into believing that the door is closed by placing a magnet at a strategic place on the door, completing the circuit and making a sham of the whole world of wizards. You'll need a fairly powerful magnet to make it work. tef43 Posted April 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2004 And if a number of you do it on the same ship at the same time, you'll overburden the A/C system and then you won't have ANY. FlipperMs Posted April 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Not to rain on your plan, but if you have your door opened with the A/C purring away, I think that you will soon find that your room will start smelling musty from the mold caused by the mixture. serene56 Posted April 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2004 We tried that on our last cruise. With the door staying opened letting in allk that hot air mixing with the air conditioning vent the condensation was horrible. Talk about feeling sticky all night. This was also in August/September so there may be a differece Going NOWHERE Miracle, February 13, 2005 Legend, October 22,2004 Voyager August 31,2003 Victory September 22,2002 Regal Empress,June 2001 Sensation,August 2000
