Carnival Cruise Hawaiian Flower Lei?

I’m trying to get your input from experience on Hawaiian Flower Lei being brought on-board on embarkation day.

I would love to surprise my Mom with a lei before we board the Splendor while in Hawaii.

Carnival FAQ states that flowers must be purchased from the FUN shops (they aren’t offering leis to pre-purchase) or they must be delivered from a florist.  I would prefer to choose our own leis and I’m sure delivery fees would be a bit pricey $$.

Have you had luck recently bringing flower leis or brought local flowers for your room from any of the weekly/daily markets in one of the Hawaiian ports?
