Looks like I have extremely poor memory.

Forgive me ssv - didn't mean to expose any memory shortcomings ... :p

Vera - good to hear from you and that you are enjoying SP. Hope the weather improves - look forward to more info on your return.

The Supreme Obligarch of Planet Earth is not amused.

Seriously though, I have memory lapse recently. Can't even remember people I've met and spoken to.

Ciao for now, gotta go look for some hidden and mystery herb to remedy the problem.

Oh wise one - what is an "Obligarch"???

Try and remember where you left the memory - maybe in a ship's casino?? :p I've heard of a mystery herb called "cruise" ....

Obligarch are business leaders who have a huge influence over a nation. Kinda like the situation in Russia.

Nah, I had an easy time winning on Libra and Aquarius that it isnt the cause. Probably left it on Virgo, New Years...the casino was extremely lucky the first night.

Gives me a reason to cruise onboard Virgo again plus Celebrity Disco is very attractive right now with my just-realised passion for booze.

Next trip onboard is probably Feb 24-29's cruise to PKG/PHU/LAN

Hi Vera, very happy to hear that you are enjoying Sun Princess. Looking forward to hearing all about your cruise when you return home.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise and hope the weather clears for you.

Mike

Can I thank you all for the most valuable contributions on Superstar Gemini. We fly from Ireland to Singapore on Valentines Day, stay at The Royal Plaza Hotel until we board Gemini on 17th for a 7 day cruise-KL, Penang, Krabi, Phuket, Langkawi, KL (again) and back to Singapore. We fly then to Bali for 4 nights at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel.

We are cruise virgins but thanks to all the great info on this thread, feel like old ‘sea dogs’ now! Once again thanks for all the advice and I will post a review of ‘Gemini’ on our return home.

Regards

Paddy

Dateline Saturday 09/02/08 Arafura Sea bound for Darwin. Revised ETA 2230 tonight account choppy swell and strong head on current . Well 11 nights down already and 7 to go to Singapore . Captain Lennart had his reception for "Repeat Offenders" last night which was nice, great guy with dry sense of humour . In Galaxy of the Stars last night we were treated to TWICE AS NICE -from Las Vegas , Westley and his partner - just sensational - world class . Colin Kerr is allegedly joining us in Bali for the last leg into Singapore, so us regulars are looking forward to catching up with him again too . As usual the food and service through out are just sensational on the good ship GEMINI .

For those of you booked to travel on GEMINI this year - it does not get any better than this; for those of you contemplating booking I urge you to select an itinerary from the Star website and book now whilst this great little vessel is still in the Star fleet .

Second day out from Darwin and now bound for Bali. Scheduled stopover at KOMODO (tender port) has been cancelled owing to bad weather. We have monsoonal rains and choppy seas with swells up to 6m last two days which has both slowed our speed, and made it inpractical to call at Komodo. Very little sign of sea sickness on board, and Gemini certainly handles the heavier seas OK.

Today we have Chocolateholics Banquet at 1530, then tonight is the fabulous CREW SHOW in the Galaxy of the Stars.

All very stressful !!! Sadly only 5 days left till we arrive in Singapore .

Damn Star Cruises!

Why based this beautiful ship out of somewhere I can't sail out of! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Incredibly pissed.

Easy now, ssv - you have not even explained just why you feel that way before using such language

Dateline - Thursday 13/02/08 1420

Approx 80 kms out of Bali, sea and weather conditions have improved markedly . ETA at Bali 1900 tonight for re-fuelling then straight through to Singapore due Sunday my estimate between 0900 and 1400.

Mike is there any "fat" built into the last leg of long cruise to absorb any late running ?

All tours KOMODO (did not call) and BALI cancelled.

kuldalai, thanks for your posts and keeping us updated. Sorry tht some ports were cancelled, but weather is one thing that we cannot control.

I believe that if the Captain thinks there is a possibility of too late an arival at SIN he may "put the pedal to the metal":D .

It will be easy for you to know, because the vibration aft will really be noticeable, especially at Mariners Patio. But it's a "good" vibration. Hard to explain in words, but I sort of like it.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise and let us all know your impressions upon your return.

Happy sailing!

Mike

Good news from Star Cruises. People from the USA and other countries are now able to book cruises with Star Cruises ONLINE.:) This new feature is not officially launched, but is in a trial period.

Below please find instructions given to me from Star Cruises Corporate HQ.

Here's how to do it:

*Go to Star Cruises website www.starcruises.com

* To book your preferred cruise, enter your search at "Find my favourite cruise" and enter your country of residence, sailing date (your preferred cruise date leave destination BLANK, and your preferred departure port.

* Once the cruises appear select the number of passengers and click search again.

* After the search, pick your preferred itinerary, departure date and then click select. The promotions available for the particular cruise departure will appear. Pick the promotion that is applicable to you and click continue. You will be able to view the total cruise fare in US$.

Hope this helps.

Dateline Saturday 16/02/08 1400 .

Last night Captain hosted Gala Farewell Dinner which was just sensational.

Floorshow wound up last night with entire entertainment cast with Australian flags singing Peter Allen's "I Still Call Australia Home" as a tribute to the pax - which just bought the house down , and many a tear to many eyes.

Seas are smoothing out and weather improving, revised ETA in Singapore is now mid Sunday evening 17/02/08 .

Tonight we cross the Equator and we have the King Neptune thing and certificates for first timers around 2130 .

It sounds as if you have had a wonderful trip,Kuldalai.

Shame there were stops missed.

I always feel sorry when such a trip comes to an end, then start planning the next holiday.

BTW-who is your captain on this trip ?

cheers helga/maggy

Finally arrived Singapore Sunday 2200 on SS GEMINI and there were some tearful farewells between pax and staff after 18 days at sea .

Our Captain was a great guy with a matching dry sense of humour called

Lennart Jegerfalk. He joined the Australian season on the East coast.

Back to a dreary life of retirement till June 11 till we join our friends on SS GEMINI again in Hong Kong for a further 10 days of the Gemini magic .

Kuldalai, sorry to hear you missed some ports, but I guess there's never really a bad day on the good ship Gemini!! Would have been nice to have some of that motion on the South China Sea. Was easy to forget you were on a ship there. More rock'n'roll on HK Harbour Ferry!!

Anyone planning to be in Sydney this weekend for the 'Royal Rendezvous' of QEII and Queen Victoria?

I'm thinking the view from the Bridge might be ok. Not keen to be in the main throng on the foreshores. Any thoughts?

Tracey.
