Balsam12 Posted February 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2019 Just wondering about the difference in price between these two cruises... Add two extra nights and more than double the price. The only thing I can think of is that the port costs for Australian ports are hugely expensive. Can anyone suggest why there is such disparity in the prices? Milwaukee Eight Posted February 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2019 Maybe it’s like doing an Eastern Caribbean (very popular) vs a Western Caribbean (not as much so)?
Rare twangster Posted February 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2019 Supply and demand. If you dig into them both I bet you find the cheaper interior are sold or nearly sold out. Voyager and Radiance are very different ships. Fewer cabins sell out certain categories faster driving prices up. If there are 100 cabin type X and 95 are sold, the last 5 double in price due to demand until it's past final payment due date. At that point if there are still 5 of cabin type X now they go on sale for half price. It's much like airfare. Chances are the person one row in front paid a whole different price than you did and different again from the person one row back. There is no such thing as "this is the price and it is always this price". Radiance in Alaska displays the same pricing idiosyncrasies. Small ship, fewest suites of any class of ship, lower balcony ratios compared to Voyager class.
