djhsolara Posted February 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2019 We’ll be going to San Juan and St Thomas next week. This will be our first time there since their major hurricane hit. Are they back to “normal” or will we see noticeable differences?
Alberta Quilter Posted February 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2019 We are in San Juan today and St Thomas tomorrow. I don't know what normal was since this is my first time here but one of my tablemates at dinner tonight reported that 75% of the population still do not have electricity. We did see lots of hurricane damage in our short tour today.
fatcat04 Posted February 21, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2019 We have been to San Juan 3 times, 2 times prior to the hurricane and then 2 weeks ago. In the old city, it didn't seem very much different. We went to the Forts, did some shopping, went to a restaurant. Very pleasant visit. St Thomas, our third trip there as well just 2 weeks ago. There were still some blue tarps I could see from the port but not many. We went downtown to Palm Passage, ate, and did some shopping. Lots of new road construction around the port to make the whole area less congested. Our taxi driver was thrilled about this and seemed very proud. It is a great idea as that whole area is a parking lot when lots of ships are in port but NA was the only ship in St Thomas that day so it wasn't nearly as bad.
