How are the chances of getting off of the Getaway and making a 10:55am flight?? Any experiences out there to share?

We always hesitate to book air before noon, but if all goes well and there is no delay in clearing the ship you will be fine. The biggy is: if, there are no delays. Normally we are at the air port by 10:15 or so. I still would recommend trying to get a little later flight. As for one hint, a lot of cruisers use self walk off when they have a flight issue. That gets you off the ship earlier but means you and your luggage have to leave together and this can be a hassle if you are traveling with more than a bag or two.

alot of factors are involved. do you get into port on time ex. fog could be a issue or any other random delay. when you get into port is there a delay getting off the ship this usually isnt the case but you never know. seems like a 30 minute ride to the airport give or take. you would have to be off very close to the first wave of people imo. say 8 am  30 minutes to get off and 30 minutes to the airport would put you there at 9 which should be enough time.

New Orleans Port is in a very congested area difficult to get in and out of the Port terminal area.  Additionally, there is a feeder local train track that crosses the main road you need to use...and it seems that the train runs frequently stopping all traffic.   Your flight time is doable.  But delays getting to the airport are possible.

Agree, I had forgotten how congested it can be until we did it about a year or so ago. hubby has to use a wheel chair for embarkation and debarkation. From where they dropped him off until we got to the curb side was a really long walk and then to get a taxi was another issue. Lots of people, relatively long wait and very crowded

Everyone's experience is different.  Back January we were debating on a 9:30 flight or a 3:30 flight.  I went 3:30 to avoid the stress.  Looking back we could have made the 9:30 but it would have been tight.  Personally, I would take a 10:55 if you party is good health to disembark with luggage in tow.  You will need to be on of the early departers, but not many people will be fighting you (unless this is spring break).

Yes the port is congested and crazy, but it's also a short 5 minute walk to get out of the port area.  Walk out the port to any of the local hotels (Springhill is 10 minutes away) and call an Uber or cab.  Time spent will be rewarded by being out of traffic.

If you do go with later flight there is a service that will take your baggage from port to airport for $10/bag.  I don't recall the name, but you can't book in advance anyways.  There are folks with signs in the debark area who will lead to the right table and take care of you..  I admit it is not the best organized, but they did come through.  They have 2 options, 12:30 arrival or 2:30 arrival.  We choose 12:30 and got luggage by 1:15.  So keep in mind if there volume is high they will run behind.  They meet you by the baggage claim area (carousel 8).  Cash only

Best of luck in making the choice and enjoy!

In Jan I had a Monday return flight booked originally with Southwest, something came up that I really wanted to be back for on Sunday but the flight to KC that would get me there in time was at 9:35 am, it was also a Southwest flight. I booked it but also kept the 1st flight just in case I didn't make it to the Sunday flight. Thankfully with Southwest you aren't penalized and would you the credit later for the flight I didn't use. We did the self assist debarkment, got in line around 6:30, line started moving around 7:00 and I was in the taxi by 7:35 and at the airport at 7:55. Worked out for me this time but did cause me some anxiety.
