Slot Pull Questions over 125 signed up

I am sailing on the Escape in a couple of weeks and am in charge of the slot pull for our roll call. I have over 125 people signed up for this and at first I was not going to involve the casino but I am thinking at this point I should. Does anyone have advice on how to handle this? We have a great group of people on here and another forum , I truly think we will get most of the people who signed up to actually come. 

 

I have read mixed things about involving the casino. Some say they will pick a machine for you, some say they give prizes, some say they rig the machine to lose (not sure how true that is). I want to make sure I am doing this the right way. If we have 100 people standing around a machine that will cause some congestion I am sure.

 

Please any advice you can offer me is appreciated. I don't want to be overwhelmed the day of.

IMHO, 125 is way too many people for a slot pull. If I were one of the 125 I would bow out.  It takes way too long for with that many people, and most people can’t even see what is going on.  Is there any way you can divide the group into two?  With a group that large I would definitely let the casino know ahead of time.  They usually offer a few prizes.  Good luck!

125 is way too many for a slot pull.  I've never been involved with one that had more than 30, and even that number meant most could not see what was going on.  Absolutely involve the casino.  Don't be afraid to ask if they will chip in some prizes for high scorers - I've never been turned down, and often they've provided NCL polo shirts and bottles of wine, so it's not just cheap trinkets like they give away for trivia.  They don't and can't rig the machine, but they do select one for you to play.

I was running the slot pull for the Epic TA in Nov 2018.  We had about 140 people sign up, but had about 35 people actually pony up the money at the M&G.   Many folks just didn't show up to the M&G, and we had some 'walk ons' who attended the M&G that hadn't signed up in advance.

I've been involved with other slot pulls as well, and it's been a similar turn out.

 

So, my guess would be that you won't have everyone show up who who signed up.

I am thinking the same thing. We have had a very active group so far but I guess people may change their minds the day of.

OK, here is my advise and this only my opinion which doesn't make it necessarily right: our last pull, a few weeks ago had 65. We all agreed, if there are more than about 30 or 35 the group should be split into more than one. As for involving the management I always have when we have done one. I may not take their advise on what slot to use, but do let them know we will be having ours what time and ask if he/she has any suggestions. It is amazing how they love to be kept informed. Yes, there will be some that will not show up, especially if they get scared away by the large number, but if you post you are going to split the group more will want to take part.
