Long Lines on Glory

Here are some questions for anyone who has sailed on the Glory recently. My family and some friends will be on the Glory May 29th. Are the lines long in the Red Sail? Was it a problem getting on and off the ship on port days? What about lounge chairs around the pools? Thanks for any info

Hi. We sailed on the Glory Thanksgiving week last year. The lines at the Red Sail were not too bad. They have the buffet at both the front and back of the restaurant, so you can usually find a line that isn't too bad. They also have specialty stations for deli sandwiches and Chinese food. The line for the Chinese food can get long, as it takes longer to prepare the food than it does to make a sandwich. Also, the line for burgers and fries at the back of the ship was unreal some days. I am sure this was probably due to the ship sailing at capacity during a holiday period and there were a million (OK I'm exaggerating ) kids onboard who eat burgers and fries. The only problem we had getting on or off the ship was getting back on in Cozumel. The line stretched from the ship, all the way through the dutyfree shops on the pier. And of course, there was some guy who was so disgustingly drunk, that everyone was afraid he would either pass out cold on the pier or barf on them in line. The security people on the ship finally hustled him through the line and onto the ship. They probably should have sent him right to the medical center, because he probably had alcohol poisoning. As far as lounge chairs on deck, we encountered the usual saving of chairs, but we found that out back the aft pool, you were more likely to find one than by the mail pool. We are not huge sunbathers, so someone else can probably give you more insight on this one. Overall we had a wonderful time. In fact, we are doing the Eastern Caribbean itinerary on the Glory this November, but we are going the week after Thanksgiving, so hopefully it will be less hectic. Happy Cruising.

Hi, we're going on the Glory May 29 too. I'll save you some pool chairs....how many will you need? Can I just hang beach towels over them as soon as we get on the ship??? See you soon! Love, Juliah

We noticed the same thing (amazingly long lines) at Cozumel when people were getting back on the ship... the moral of that story is DO NOT WAIT until the last HOUR before you head back to the ship... unless you don't mind standing in blazing hot sun for 45 minutes...

(I am going to try my fist attempt at posting a photo - of the lines - on here...l wish me luck!)

Tom, we can't get to your photo...message says "you are not the owner".

MW...we sailed 28 Feb. The lines to get off and on the ship were a major pain. Two hours to get into Key West (which you will be able to avoid since you will be going to CM), tendering to Belize took a long time as they kept stopping the tenders due to rough waters, Coz was Ok both off and on...about what we have experienced at other ports where you walk off and on, and Progresso was a small delay for the bus.

As for being on the Glory, I would have never known there were 3,000 cruisers there. We had longer lines on the Destiny and Paradise.

The ship is a wonderful experience! The ports, well, the ship is a wonderful experience. (Not that the ports were bad, getting off and on was the problem.) Hope your cruise is wonderful!!!

We were on the Glory last week. Of course there were lines, but they were not too bad aboard ship except for:

- The grill and pizza right after the ship
left ports. This was due to the Red Sail
closing about 30 minutes before passengers
were due back aboard.

- The Grand Buffet, but that happens on most
ships.

- The lobby of the Platnium Restaurant
before dinner. It is not big enough to
hold the people waiting for it to open so
it gets crowded and hot. We are usually on
time for dinner, but changed to arrive
about 5 minutes late to avoid the
crowd.

Ports were a different matter; however, unlike the previous poster, we enjoyed the ports. There was a long line to get the tram to take you downtown in Key West. Belize wasn't too bad given it was a tender port and you have to expect lines. Returning from town in Progresso was the worst - over an hour wait to get the bus back to the ship.
