LMHSRN Posted April 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Ok. Have documents. Taking a child...Her ticket came by it's self. Question are: 1. Does she have to sign the application form? 2. How do we state that she does not have signing privilages? She is only 7 3. Do we have to put credit card information for her also? If yes, how do we do that? Ok Cruise Guru's put on your thinking caps..... Thanks for your help....this is the best thing (these boards) since sliced bread!!!!! 1tonysmom Posted April 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Hi. We traveled with our kids on the Glory last year. We paid for their gratuities on our sail & sign and did not open an account that they could charge to (ours are 17, 12 and 2). If you don't want to do the gratuities on the sail & sign, you will have to let the purser's office know because I think they automatically charge them and you either need to pay with cash or a credit card or take them off. Hope this helps. Joanne P.S. To keep the 12 year old from losing his card and his fountain soda card, we punched holes in both and he wore them on a lanyard around his neck. It worked great! He didn't lose them all week. Happy cruising. 11/27 Carnival Glory Cruise
bjkeen Posted April 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Everyone's paperwork must be completed before boarding, there is additional paperwork to be completed at the port unless you go to Carnival's website at www.carnival.com and fill out the information forms there. If the child traveling with you is not yours, do you have written permission to take the child on the trip? If you go into Mexico you need notorized permission. You also need the standard info such as passport, or raised seal birth certificate for the child. A notorized permission slip for medical care is also a good idea. Got all that? Baystate Posted April 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2004 My husband and I activated our sail and sign cards with cash, but we never activated our children's cards. Also, we never gave them their cards. It wasn't as if they needed them for anything. They were always with us, and whenever they bought something it went on one of our sign and sail cards. Have fun!! Rare finoky Posted April 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2004 We had kids in a separate room on our recent Legend cruise. We didn't have to add any money or use a credit card to activate their sail and sign card. We had the option of leaving it as a non activated card or allow them to use it and charge stuff. Obviously we decided to not allow them to charge stuff. They just added their tips to my account even though they were in a different cabin. Carnival had them cross referenced to us so it was easy to do. ljrfrm Posted April 11, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 11, 2004 I was just about to post this exact question...so I appreciate the responses...thanks! My three boys will be in the cabin across from us and I didn't know how to handle tips/etc. I think I will keep their card inactivated too...my 12 year old is not all that great with his money. Rare finoky Posted April 12, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2004 You do not need to provide any credit card information for them. I had my daughter sign her name on her documents so I am not sure if they would positively require it. cruisinfamilytx Posted April 13, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We gave our kids there cards and each a soda card. They kept track of them all week. The younger one, 11, put them on a lanyard on her neck. The teen just carried them in her pocket. They are their room key, so it was convenient so everyone can get in and out of the room. Also to get on and off the ship--they prefer everyone carries their own card. I activated them the 2nd day of the cruise. My children always asked before they spent and we never had a problem. Ashkins Posted April 13, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2004 My kids 13, 15, and 16 all have VISA cards. Teen Bux cards from Bank of America. Its a prepaid card they can only charge the money they have in account. And they don't have to pay it back. Like a check card. I have already prepaid their tips. So I will use THEIR VISA cards if they want their S&S card activated for the foofoo type drinks they like and can have. Or souveniers on the ship. As well as the arcade. And yes they have been saiving since last Aug for this cruise. They have plenty of $$ on it to activate the S&S card. Disney Magic 5/
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted April 13, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We have always allowed our boys to sign for things themselves...(11 and 16) - though our 16 year old has decided he does not like cruising anymore..LOL .. they also have VISA BUXX.. but we are on vacation, so we treat.. to a point... They have always been keenly aware of what constitutes reasonable usage. Milkshakes, small gift shop items, arcade etc... - on the Glory our sons cards were automatically limited (only at the ARCADE token dispenser) to $20/day... and at $1.00 for many games, that goes quick... and since I can blow that in a single blackjack bet EFFORTLESSLY, it seems VERY reasonable that they can blow that in a day... they likely get alot more ACTION from their $20 than I do.. eerbeek Posted April 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2004 To answer the question, the 7 year old is not old enough to enter into a contract (which is what the S&S page in your docs is). She should not sign it, but if she does, it can't be legally binding. Lido Deck Linda Fantasy 2/6/2000 Victory 3/23/2003 Destiny 4/25/2004
tatania_starstrider Posted April 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2004 bjkeen, or anyone. I went to the Carnival website to see about filling in those form onlines as thanks to cruise critic I've learned it pays to do this ahead of time. Thing is, I don't see the link that takes me to any forms. We booked our cruise through an online site and not through the Carnival website. How do I go about doing the Sign and Sale now? Can I also inquire about upgrades at the site?
serene56 Posted April 14, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 14, 2004 go to www.crnival.com and scroll down to where you see BOOKED GUEST (its located on the left) follow the directions to complete boarding pass (you will need your booking number) You can not inguire about upgrades at this site.
