1,300 people being evacuated from cruise ship off Norway coast due to engine problems

Indeed, it seems to be an unfortunate set of circumstances combined, an engine failure whilst sailing in rough weather has resulted in a very scary experience for the passengers. It could've been so much worse, so glad to hear all are now safe and returning home.

It certainly was wonderful to see that this didn't end in tragedy.  I watched some footage from the ship on our news earlier on - scary doesn't describe it!  Thankfully, as others have said, there've been no reports of serious injuries and the ship is one piece, safely docked.  However, I'm sure this will leave quite a lot of people with PTSD, unfortunately.

A big shout out to the crew who, apparently, were fantastic.  I can imagine that everyone must be just exhausted now.

According to the latest reports, the ship has turned around and is note able to head, albeit slowly to port. Helicopter evacuations have been suspended. Although they are escorting the ship in case of further medical evacuations.

Further videos posted show it to be awfully scary but everyone seems very calm, in the circumstances.

Sure it'll be grand when we sail. It would appear, from the initial reports of an unfortunate combination of engine failure and bad weather.

There is always an incident of some nature just before or just after, at every location we visit 🙄

Initial findings are reporting it was an issue with the oil pressure which caused the engine failure.

In other news, true to form, just as we've booked Mexico, they've declared an emergency alert due to volcanic activity 😧

Yes ... but we're staying on for another 13 nights after you disembark  😱  (I really shouldn't be tempting fate!)

On a brighter note, it's a glorious day here in the Sunny South-East ... the forecast hasn't been as kind up in your neck of the woods - talk of cloudier conditions = cooler temperatures.

True, but luckily, you're not going to destinations we've booked for...although we did go to a few last year.

It was very sunny and pleasant yesterday. I do have sunshine out the rear kitchen window, however, there are large black clouds looming over Lough Foyle to the front. I hope your sunshine extends to be enjoyed over the weekend.
