Jenny2121 Posted March 26, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) Princess will be in Dublin for two days. We looked at Google Earth and noticed it is about a 50 minute walk from the ship to downtown Dublin. Does anyone know if there will be taxis, buses, etc. waiting for people getting off the ship and taking them downtown Dublin and dropping them off? And the best way of getting back to the ship? Thanks, Jenny Edited March 26, 2019 by Jenny2121

Thanks, Jenny Last year Royal Princess (1st sailing of 2018 season). Princess provided a free bus shuttle into Dublin, it dropped us across Merrion Square a short walk to Trinity College. I believe they had this service for both days (we did not use on the second day). Also at this drop off was the place you can buy hop-on-hop bus tour. Due to a free shuttle to town we did not see too many taxi around the pier.
omc329 Posted March 27, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2019 I haven't been yet, but what I've read is that the free shuttle was only free the first trip or two of the season. The rest of the season Princess charged for the shuttle. Again, I haven't been, but the info I've accumulated on the boards is if two or more people, taxi is a better bet cost wise. There is also public transportation available, but appears to be a 20 minute walk??? I think. https://luas.ie/ http://www.irishrail.ie/ http://www.dublinbus.ie/ Leap card has links to the various options https://about.leapcard.ie/leap-visitor-card I hope this helps. I too am doing research on Dublin and have no first hand experience.
Campbell soup Posted April 4, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2019 Last year we took a taxi into town. The price for four people was about £20 into town and £15 return. The taxi took us right to the entrance to Trinity College. The people who took the shuttle were still boarding the large bus by the time we were paying to get in to see the Book of Kells. It was easy and quick and personal.
anthonyy7 Posted June 21, 2019 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Princess shuttle last summer was $8 or $16 round trip. A taxi area was setup and it was easy to find and share taxi since most are going in the same area.
