flagger Posted June 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Didn't I read somewhere that you can pay your excise tax (we purchased tickets before 01 June 04) when you arrive at the aiport? Aren't there automated machines or something like that? Considering we are flying in on Friday for a Sunday departure, it would seem that would be easier to get out of the way and just put with our documentation for the return. Can someone fill me in on how the departure or whatever it is called $10 fee process works? MSBYRDY Posted June 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Yes, there are indeed automated machines you can use, but I think it still has to be the day of departure. But, find them and it's much faster, we had no line at all when we used it. Marilyn

If the airlines are not collecting the fee post 6/1/04 then that is certainly before the day of departure. Can someone who has been through YVR recently confirm this or explain the process? flagger Posted June 15, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted June 15, 2004 I bought my tickets BEFORE 6/1/04 and therefore it is not included in my ticket price. So I am asking if I can use the machines when I arrive and avoid the lines when all of the cruiseship passengers arrive at once.
davvos Posted June 15, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Theer isn't any AIF checkpoint at Vancouver airport anymore and the automated machines have been removed - since there is no check for AIF anymore, there is no way to purchase at the airport - don't think you have to worry about it.
