markjvanb Posted April 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2019 We've cruised on Princess many times and we have always received unused OBC we prepurchased (over $25) as a cheque in the mail around 6 weeks later. (last cruise in Dec 2018) A friend just got off the Emerald and he received his unused OBC as a credit card credit. Does anyone know if Princess has changed their policy on this? Of course us Canadians would much rather receive a US$ cheque instrad of a big credit on our card. Thanks.
Kj9395 Posted April 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2019 We received our unused OBC as credit card refund. It was in August on the Royal, and we were told we would be getting a check in the mail, but then saw the credit on our credit card about 3 weeks after cruise. Was there only one person who bought OBC in the room or more. I am thinking if two people buy you get a cheque. Another theory is if the refund is large you get a card credit. My friend had a refund of $1900 on his card, he is the only one who bought. We received a cheque for $140 and both of us bought OBC
Kj9395 Posted April 7, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2019 Just one of us bought OBC, and our credit was around $550, so not nearly as large as your friends, but fits your theory. It’s the first time we haven’t used all the OBC, so I don’t know how princess determines how refund is processed. We were told on board though, that we would be refunded by check, so maybe $500 is the cutoff from check to credit card, and we just didn’t spend as much the last night on board. We also only had 1 credit card for all cabin charges for the both of us, so maybe that played a part as well.
