pbenjamin Posted April 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2019 We arrive at Seward for our cruise on the Jewel at 5 pm. The ship sails at 9. When would the lifeboat drill happen? Do they do it more than once?
bonvoyagie Posted April 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2019 Probably around 8:30 - they usually happen 1/2hr before sailing.
valleyvillage Posted April 7, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2019 And they do repeat them for those who were AWOL for the first.
aeroo777 Posted April 7, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) I agree with bonvoyagie around 8:30. If you’re sailing in mid-May sunset would be about 10:30, still plenty of light at sail away. Edited April 7, 2019 by aeroo777
Rare KeithJenner Posted April 7, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2019 Whenever I have had a relatively late sail away (they are very common in Europe), muster usually happens before dinner service starts. Unless people have had previous experience on this itinerary of it happening as late as 8.30 then I would suggest that is incorrect and it will actually be sometime around 5pm. A make up drill would be held the next day for anyone who misses it.
emcelh Posted April 7, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2019 I would agree. I have no personal experience with this itinerary but I've cruised on all of the Jewel Class ships and the the dining room (the aft one at least) was always used as a muster station. newmexicoNita Posted April 7, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2019 Never sailed out of Seward but when sailing on any other ship that leaves in the early or later evening they drill has still been about 4 or 4:30pm with a repeat later, usually the next morning for those who missed the first one.
Rare BirdTravels Posted April 7, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) Muster will be before dinner service. Most likely around 4:30 (that’s when we had ours for a 7:00 pm departure). If you miss the main muster, you must attend the make up the following day. Edited April 7, 2019 by BirdTravels
Notnewtoit Posted April 7, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 7, 2019 Seems logical it be pre-dinner, shuffling, annoyed, to a muster station, while I contain two Manhatten's, half a steak and some mushrooms, to sit among people having their dinner too would be odd.
maja651 Posted April 8, 2019 #10 Share Posted April 8, 2019 We left San Juan at 9 pm, and the muster drill was st 4:30. They had a makeup drill the next day for those who missed it.
Love my butler Posted April 8, 2019 #11 Share Posted April 8, 2019 Sailed from Seward many times. As I recall the muster was at 8:30.

On the Norwegian Sun, the muster station was held at approximately 8:00pm, but the main dining rooms were not an assembly station. Last year we did two sailings out of Seward on the Jewel. The drill was held at 5:00pm, but there was a make up drill in between the welcome aboard shows in the stardust theater, only for those that missed the 5:00pm drill. Once we made the drill, once we did not. About 200 guests were in the Stardust for the secondary drill.
