Is there a weigh-in scale in Elation's spa area?

My wife would like to know if there is a weigh- in scale in the spa area or somewhere else aboard the Elation? Thanks again!

Hopefully there are NO scales on the ship...

I have never seen any, and I have DEFINITELY NEVER LOOKED for any... When I am on a ship, I am on VACATION...

In an odd sort of way, I gauge how much FUN I had based on my weight GAIN (just kidding!)-- I am assuming that it is the concern for weight GAIN that is the issue, right?

My clothes usually start to clue me in to any kind of change of MASS after a few days... LOL !

Enjoy your cruise

Yes weight control is her main reason for wanting to be able to weigh at the start of the cruise, in the middle and at the end...all while still aboard ship and using the same scaile. I see in my future...a lot of great food being eaten along with many miles of walking and stairs. If you get my drift? I don't want to have to pack a scale along with the microwave, blender and everything else if I don't have to do so.

I think your DW should book her next vacation at some spa in Arizona....
Weighing in on a cruise seems a bit self abusive, doesn't it?
Whatever floats your boat, I guess......

halos, Its not any more self abusive for her to do a cruise then for an alcoholic to go to one of those Club Med places where all the booze is included. In fact at least she can eat anything she wants but just doesn't. Her choice.

She has done the Weight Watcher's program and fully enjoys life, but also watches her food intake. Tempering it with extra exercise for being able to eat something that she really would like. As she says..."Weight Watcher's isn't a diet...its a way of life!"

I support her efforts and as I said in the post above...I too will be walking a whole lot with her and using the stairs of course. At least she has no real food restrictions as to what she can eat, only how much she wants to eat balanced with her exercise for the day. Its works for her. But I hope someone can say if there is a scale on board and not have it be like looking for a clock in a casino.

I didn't mean to sound negative...I applaud your wife's dedication, honestly.
I don't know if there is a scale in the fitness room/spa area, but like you said, it's probably in the same area where they keep the casino clocks.

I asked the same question (I believe on the "Lose Before You Cruise" board) and someone replied that there is a scale in the spa area.

I am also a lifetime WW member and it is a way of life--a good one, I might add. I plan to enjoy my cruise, probably eating and definitely drinking more than I normally do, but still being sensible about it.

I am so used to weighing myself almost daily at home that I will probably step on the scale a time or two on the ship.

halos, sorry to bark back in a protective mode. I am really proud of my wife's accomplishment and her dedication to the program. When she first started, I broke down all of our favorite meals and worked out the "point" factor for each part of that meal. Any time we want to make a new and different meal I will work up the "points" so she can figure how much she wants to eat. Its been working. Now while on the cruise there will be a lot of guessing the "points" and exercise, so the scale will be the fulcrum point between the guessing and exercise.I guess that is just one of the things that makes a 38 year marriage work?

bar10der421, thanks for that information. My wife wants to weigh at the start of the cruise, in the middle and at the end before disembarking. That way she has used the same scale for all three weigh-ins. Oh yea she really plans to enjoy the cruise as will I also. LESS than two weeks! HOT DOG! Airdale, good for your wife! I applaud her efforts and am sure she will do well to stick to her WW way of life.

I'm going to bring along my cycling shoes for spinning class aboard the Victory, so I'll be ready for any flack I might get about exercising on vacation! I can't resist, and since I spin at home, I really want to see what kind of class is offered on board.

Bon Voyage, and hope you have a great time!!

One thing you might want to keep in mind is water weight!!! It may just be ME, but I swear they put salt in EVERYTHING! I always gain between 6 and 10 pounds on a cruise and it's almost all bloat (YMMV). When we return home I lose it ALL within a week. Now also keep in mind that I never hold back....if they offer it....I accept LOL.

Good luck and congrats to her for wanting to keep on track.

airdale...
I like you exactly BECAUSE you barked in a protective mode....I think it's great that you are so supportive of your wife (of 38 years!)
Your support has no doubt added to her weight loss success.
I dieted my whole entire life with no success, and this past time, my DH (who used to be scrawny at one time) actually needed to diet too, so we did it together and it's the first time I've ever kept weight off after losing it, so support is extremely important!!
I just hope that your wife doesn't get too bent out of shape (mentally and emotionally, I mean) if she does gain a pound or so while cruising. The best suggestion from one dieter to another that I can recommend is to be slightly restrictive with yourself the week (or two) before you go, and then be prepared to be restrictive the week you get back. Try not to worry over it too much while on board. You don't really want to have to 'think' about what you are eating or analyzing every bite you put into your mouth TOO much while you are supposed to be relaxing and having a good time.
Life is short.

Thank you imatarb for your kind words. My wife will do well. Spinning class? Like spinning hair into yarn and then weaving it into fabric?

Tom n Cheryl, too funny! I really enjoy a seafood diet. If I see food I eat it. Years ago that was very true for me...now...I usually eat low carbs, mostly protein, but if something catches my fancy I will eat it and then my wife and I will exercise some more.

halos, I agree with you that it takes the FULL support of the spouse for the other to lose weight and keep it off. Nothing is harder than for one person to be trying to lose weight or having lost weight and the other eating anything they want and doing it in front of the dieter. AH, a stationary cycle!

imatarb, your stationary cycle looks like you have a lot more control over your "ride" than my mother's did.

Her's was a TRUE stationary bike in EVERY way without the bells and whistles. Well maybe there was still a bell on it?? Ka-ching, Ka-ching!

My dad built my mother a stationary bike in the very early 50's. Took an OLD 16" fat tire, single speed bike and put training wheels on it and set them so high that the rear tire wouldn't touch the floor but so the bike was balanced. Ma could peddle her be-hind off and never go an inch or out in bad weather and without the neighbors seeing her. But she could look out the window while she rode. When she complained that it was getting too easy to peddle, dad tightened the chain and back sprocket so much that you could hardly turn the peddles. Then it was too hard, so he had to loosen it up some. Some women are just hard to make happy. LOL That was the very first stationary bike that I had ever seen.

Thanks for the information and HAPPY SPINNING!
