1 week in San Juan pre-cruise - best neighbourhood?

I think we are going to spend a week in SJ before our cruise, and I am having trouble deciding which neighbourhood is best to stay in. I would like something relatively walkable to interesting spots and near a nice beach (the beach is the top priority). Nightlife not important. All signs seem to point to Isla Verde but the prices are better in Ocean Park and Condado (we are looking at AirBnb or something similar). Does anyone have a recommendation for neighbourhood? Thank you!

If the beach is top priority I'd go to Isla Verde, which IMO has the best beach. Condado has lots of hotels and restaurants but to me the beach isn't as good. I've never stayed in Ocean Park so I can't comment.

You mentioned Airbnb, have you checked VRBO and Homeaway too?  I realize they are almost all the same company but we've stayed in a studio condo on the ground floor 150 feet from the beach for $100/night or less in Isla Verde.

I am just starting to look at those as well actually! I can't see me handing over a photo ID to airbnb so I may have to use a similar site that doesn't ask for that kind of information. 100/night would be perfect 🙂
