ajtraveler66 Posted April 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2019 We are trying to make plans for our cruise in Jan or Feb of next year. I understand that this is NCL's private island--which is fine. Just wondering if the beaches there are decent. If that's the case, we will probably just do some beach time and walk around. Other thoughts and suggestions are welcome. Thanks. Rare crewsweeper Posted April 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2019 Take the ferry to Placencia. Better beaches. Cheaper prices. More variety.
danTHAman152000 Posted April 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2019 crewsweeper, do you have any recommendations for better snorkeling out of Placencia?
Rare crewsweeper Posted April 16, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2019 No idea for tours for cruisers. There are snorkeling outfits that go to Laughing Bird Caye but most are full day ventures and may not be available for your ship's time in port, plus ferry RT. Snorkeling along the beaches is decent, but not exceptional. Better than Uvero Beach in Costa Maya but not quite as good as West Bay in Roatan. danTHAman152000 Posted April 16, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2019 I appreciate your input. I keep seeing Placencia's excursions' start times earlier than possible with my ship's itinerary. I also keep reading about ferry passes with only three hour intervals. Leaning towards hanging out in Placencia for a few hours early, and booking a Harvest Caye snorkeling in the afternoon when we get back. Thanks again.
