rmjb Posted April 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Hello from the departure lounge at Gatwick, our flight to Malta to pick up Oceana this afternoon has been delayed by 2 hours 50 mins . Can someone reassure me the ship will wait for us? We booked direct through P and O cant get anywhere near the customer service desk due to grumpy people. what happens if we miss the ship? Will they get us to the next port, arrival in Valletta was expected at 5.40pm now looking arrival 19.45pm
Rare Eglesbrech Posted April 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2019 If you are on a charter arranged by P&O as part of your booking then you will be delayed along with a lot of late guests so they are likely to hold the ship for you. (Are all the grumpy people in the queue going to the ship, ask a few of them) If you made your own flight arrangements I would contact them immediately to let them know about the delay. Try not to let it spoil your holiday, these things tend to work out fine.
eddie11 Posted April 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2019 (edited) It will wait for you if you’re on a P&O package We were delayed 7 hours flying to Barbados. Azura waited; they did muster, laid on ‘enhanced buffet’, All was well. Edited April 18, 2019 by eddie11
rmjb Posted April 18, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted April 18, 2019 This is great to hear, we’re not stressed by it. It’s a bit of a pain but getting uptight isn’t going to speed anything along x
Spike11 Posted April 18, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2019 Oceana has left Valetta at 10pm on some occasions - to accommodate late flights. The ship usually travels quite slowly to the first destination ( after 1 Sea day), so plenty of scope to leave Valetta quite late and not effect the schedule. eddie11 Posted April 18, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2019 You might even get some compensation from the airline. Just make a note of your scheduled and actual departure and arrival times and check it out later, when you get back from, hopefully, a lovely holiday. Happy holiday!
