The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reports that Carnival Corporation has been sued by long ago owners of dock and port facilities in Cuba seized by the Cuban government.  The owners contend that Carnival's use of the dock and port facilities violates US law.  While there is no indication the rights owners seek a shut down, that could be an outcome. It is probable that successors of other port owners will file suit.

In the 1960s, the Cuban government seized hotels, telephone companies, railroads, port facilities, sugar mills, agricultural stations, etc from American and other owners. The US government subsequently made the use of these facilities by anyone in the world a prohibited act. In 2016, the US government suspended some of those penalties. In 2019, the US government restored the penalties.
