Westin or Hyatt Jersey City?

Pre cruise one night hotel stay on Sept. 6th 2019.  Which hotel is your favorite and why?  Is there a tour of New Jersey that is of interest?

Haven’t stayed in either hotel.  There are no NJ tours that I’m aware of.  Going into NYC is the big draw - particularly easy access to World Trade, Freedom Tower, 911 Memorial area, etc.  You should be able to get a Hoho bus for lower Manhattan if that is of interest or some sort of NY tour that originates in lower Manhattan.

 

The Hyatt Regency (not Hyatt House) is right on the waterfront with nice views, a roof top area, and on the Waterfront Boardwalk.  The views are more limited from the Westin unless you buy a room with a view.  The Hyatt is right near the Exchange Place PATH Station with a 3 minute ride to the World Trade Center (downtown).  Getting to 33rd St (midtown) on PATH requires taking the Hoboken Train to Newport and transferring to the 33rd St Train (M-F schedule).  The Westin is a block from the Newport PATH Station with access to both the World Trade Center and 33rd St trains (M-F schedule).  

 

Both hotels are close to the accessible light rail at Newport or Exchange Place.  If you can roll your luggage it would be an easy uncrowded trip to 34th St Bayonne on the 8th St Bayonne train.  Light rail $2.25/pp.  Uber or Lyft into the port for about $12.
