Advice In getting to Athens from Port

Our ship gets in to port at 8AM. We have scheduled a bike tour in Athens that starts at 10AM, but need to be there by 9:45/50. It meets up near the Thisseio Metro station.

 

Can anyone with experience weigh in on whether you think we’ll be able to make that trip in that amount of time? We’re on the Viking Star, so our ship itself is a bit smaller. There is only one other ship in port that day.

Piraeus to Thissio is a direct metro line, takes mebbe 10 - 15 minutes.

But Piraeus metro station is about a 25 minute walk from the cruise terminal.

 

There's an express bus service, but I think it only goes as far as Syntagma Square, a 20 min walk from your meeting place.

 

The ho-ho bus won't make sense on either time or pocket.

 

I'm way out-of-date on taxi costs, but there's a rank at the cruise terminal and the journey should take under 30 minutes.

Simplest would be a taxi, which will be lined up at the dock and will get you there with time to spare.

Simplest way would be a taxi, as mentioned above. If you don't want to take a taxi, depending where your ship docks, there are city buses on the highway (it is a 10' walk to the bus stops, which are outside the port) that take you to the metro station of Piraeus. The metro takes you directly to Thisseion.
