Arriving close to debarkation ?????

Last year we flew out of Baltimore at a 7:15 flight. At 6:45 they told us there was a 45 minute delay. After 45 minutes they came back and told us there was another hour delay. We then boarded the plane and sat for awhile and then the pilot told us there was another delay. He said he had never witnessed this before in all his years of flying but there was too much air traffic and he had to wait until some of it cleared out. This was our first cruise and there was 8 of us and we were panicking. We called our TA on our cell phone and told him this and he in return called RCCL and they said we would be ok. We also was flying into Fort Lauderdale and had to get to Miami. We got into Fort Lauderdale at 3:30 and was running to the baggage area and they were waiting for us telling us to slow down we had plenty of time. We got to the ship and got on it was 5:00. We ended up not setting sail until about 6:30 because there was 1800 other passengers in the same mess. We were really lucky and to not go through this stress again we are going on Mar. 19 and flying down the day before and spending the night in a hotel.

Did a couple of cruises out of San Juan in mid-January from the snowbelt - arriving on the day of embarcation. Now that we arrive a day or so ahead of time, I can't imagine ever going through the stress of same day arrival.

Glad everything worked out for you.

Hooray!

Now that you'll be in the night before, go out and enjoy yourself and have a nice dinner. You deserve it. It will take the stress away and maybe the special time will make all the hassle/worries (you had) worth it. This 'firedrill' you went through may actually help another cruiser in making a similar decision. Now don't get down on yourself if you find the flight was on time and this was all for naught. Getting rid of the stress was well worth the overnight hotel.

Now that you did all this, make sure you are one of the first people on board!

Good luck and enjoy your cruise.:D
