Embera village tour

We are cruising on the Coral In November. I read on these boards about the wonderful tour to the Embera Village. Princess is offering the tour for $99. Another tour company is offering the tour, for $185 pp if only us two, $125 if 5 people book. The lady said this is a different village and offers lunch which is why it is higher.

Anybody go through an outside tour company? The company I found is Embera village tours? The rep said this is more remote and authentic than the Princess tour.

Our ship is in port 8 to 6 and we tender. So going through an outside agency is another concern.

What do you think?

Ten hours in port is probably enough time, the biggest problem based on past experience is tendering is slow at Amador.  This is due in part to they do not use larger capacity shore based tenders, just the ship's tenders.  Traffic can be a little dodgy and unpredictable as well.  Really all comes down to your comfort level.

Is the person you spoke to, Anne Gordon?  If so, they probably offer the most authentic of all the Embera tours. Not that the other villages visited routinely by the cruise ships don't present a genuine picture of the lives of the Emberas, because they do.  But Anne Gordon's village is the real deal.

Yes it is Anne Gordon’s village. If I wanted Anne I’d pay a lot more. It’s less for other guides.

One other thing that you can consider if you are concerned about the unthinkable, missing the ship.  Is your stop at Ft. Amador before your transit or after your transit?  If you stop at Amador before you transit and things don't go as planned getting back to the ship... it is possible to rejoin the ship the day of the transit.  Not saying it would it would be easy or inexpensive, but it would be possible

It is before the transit. She says they have never brought back their guests after the ship left.
