Pier to Renaissance Aruba?

Recommended Posts

Posted this on Aruba board but not getting any response and leaving Sunday.

Does anyone know how far a walk from pier to Renaissance Aruba? The resort said within walking distance but are we talking quarter of a mile or 1 mile?

I’ve been reading a lot about the buses in Aruba and thought we would take that if to far – so that we can start enjoying our time right away.

TIA :D

Maybe 5 blocks? Or less. It is walkable...I did it when we stopped in Aruba on our cruise to take pix of the ship. You won't need the bus...it stops at the end of the road that the pier is on so you would have to walk anyway. If you don't want to walk you could take a cab.....but you can walk it easily.

Oh...I see you are doing the same cruise. I guess you got a day pass there. You have to take their little boat and/or shuttle to the beach/island thing. I never saw that part, as the main part of the hotel is across the street from the water.

It's pretty nice there. You'll have fun. The AOS is a great ship. There is a link in my sig to pix. Just search my albums on webshots.

If you have specific questions, email me at cruisermeg@hotmail.com and I will try and answer them tonight or tomorrow as I have to work from 1-10PM

The walk from the pier to the Renaissance Hotel is an easy one. My husband and walked it last year in about 10 minutes. And, that included stopping and watching the man playing the steel pans outside the casino (that connects to that hotel.) Just to put your mind at ease, I had surgeries on both feet just a few months before. The good thing is that it doesn't get stifling hot in Aruba. It makes the walk easier. And there is a good sidewalk system, that helps too.

Have fun!

p.s. We stayed at this hotel twice. It is a great hotel, and is built over top of a mall!! So, get there early and shop if you can. When I was there last October, I bought a charm at one of the larger jewelry stores. I kept the receipt and they kept the charm until I got off the exersion so I wouldn't have to worry about it getting stolen. *Caution* The mall closes around 6:00 so don't let it close on you before you can pick up your purchase.

However, more good news: They will also mail your purchases to your home!

Thank you for the posts! No 5 blocks isn't bad at all not a problem. Will we know where to go just by asking from the pier or do we need some directions?

Yes we are doing the day pass there just want to do a little shopping (Wingcorider or anyone else - in the mall do they have local arts and crafts or more like a general mall here?) and kick back on the beach and relax. We are planning more major excurions on St Thomas and St Maarten so figured on Aruba and Curacaco we would be more laid back.
