Cheers Program for parents split into 2 different rooms for booking only??

Recommended Posts

Hi! We are a family with 2 teens, 13 and 17. For booking purposes, we put one parent in each room with one kid. Pretty obviously, we’re going to get on the boat and immediately put both kids in one room (5 staterooms away from ours).

I actually have 2 questions:

1) Will we have a problem swapping room keys so each person has a room key for their ACTUAL room (not the booked room)?

2) If we do get keys reflecting 2 kids in a room, 2 adults in the other, Will they require me to purchase a Cheers package (my husband is getting one). “Technically,” because of the booking, he’ll be the only adult in one of the rooms. But if we exchange room keys at guest services, will they see that now there are 2 adults in the room and require the “all adults in a room must purchase the package” rule??

You should be fine. Just ask for extra key cards so both parents can open both doors.  Don't tell them you are switching sleeping arrangements.

This is exactly what we did last year. I had an “extra” key to the cabin with DH and younger son had an extra key to the kids cabin. We used our original cards for payment but both cabins were on one credit card so it made no difference. I loved being able to have Cheers for a change since DH doesn’t drink.

We do it all the time. We have a cabin for 3 and a cabin for 2. We get 3 spare keys for the 2 pax room and 2 spare keys for the 3 pax room. That way everyone has a key for each room. We have never been questioned on it

I totally agree with the others above it worked out great and the wife took my card to get her specialty coffee every morning

and by time i did a lap around the boat i was able to get another drink!!! Remember that at dinner they always set a bottle of water on the table that is yours to take (tell don't really tell you that)we had great servers that gee us the low down

Enjoy and drink up for me i have to wait until Aug 25 !!

If they let her put a coffee on your card, that was lucky.

Nobody on this form would every share their cheers card. It a big no no - along with other topics we dare to speak of.

Happy your wife got the coffee...Happy wife Happy life on the ship!

On the flip side I had cheers as well as my wife and took the wrong card to the coffee bar. I was not served! Well that’s when the baristas got no extra $$$ for the coffees I went back for. Saved me a couple of bucks that the casino got to take instead.

... and a violation on the program rules/terms and conditions.

Although your mileage may vary, it is up to one’s own morals and ethics to determine if they are willing to try utilizing another person’s drink package for a free drink.

We split up like this all the time when we travel with our 3 kids.  My husband always gets Drinks on Us in the casino...so he doesn't need Cheers...but I do!!!    You will each keep your regular sign and sail cards that will let you in to the room you're booked in...but then you go to guest services and get a key card for the other room (that you're not booked in).  We make sure that everyone in our family has a key that accesses each room (I want to be able to get into my kids room, and we want the kids to be able to get in to ours.)

I have NEVER heard of this in 20+ cruises.  I've also NEVER seen anyone take that bottle.  Anyone else ever hear of this????  To me, that feels kind of like stealing the big silver starfish from the table.  I'd love to hear what the staff told you!!!

When we had Cheers on horizon, they automatically put 2 big bottles of water on the table. I think it was for us to use instead of the tap water? Our servers kept the drinks/water bottles flowing. They did this without us asking. They even used our drink plan to get slushy drinks for the kids. It did not even occur to me to ask (I am a rule follower!) But when they did it I was not going to object!

Next cruise will be on breeze, with kids in a different room and one drink package. (Hubby's beer makes it tough to justify the cost). I have wondered if we would have servers as generous with the non-alcoholic drinks with one Cheers guest?

Oh my goodness....MY BAD.   Since we were talking about CHEERS, my brain totally read that as the bottle of WINE on the table...not the bottle of WATER.    🤣😂🤣😂   Oh my goodness...I wish I could still edit that post...I'm going to get slammed on here for my response!!!!     If they bring a bottle of water for the table...absolutely.  Yours for the taking.  I totally misread that and thought you were talking about the bottle of red wine that often sits on the table with the table number on a little tag hanging from it!!!   LOL.  Sorry about that!!!!

Yes, if your MDR servers know you have Cheers and you ask, they will alert the bar servers to bring the large format water bottles instead of the tap water in the glass carafe.  We always opt to get Pellegrino instead of bottled water - included with Cheers in the MDR during dinner.

I love that little silver starfish.  I'd never actually take it, but I always think, how cute is that, I want one.

Yeah, they are charging that big bottle of water to someone's account.  More than one person who didn't have the Cheers has found that out.
