Rare dronnygirl Posted June 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2019 Does anyone have any info on Tarragona cruise port? I believe it's quite a walk into the town, are taxis easily available and what is the cost to the cathedral. Any other info would be appreciated. hkto Posted June 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2019 https://tgncruiseport.studiogenesis.es/en/useful-information Looks like little tourist train goes there + taxis. Tarragona is not big and easily walkable.
Rare dronnygirl Posted June 24, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2019 Thank you so much. Having checked, it seems we can take the little train up to the town and then wander back through the streets.

We just came back from a Viking Jupiter cruise that stopped for a day in Tarragona (on the way from Barcelona to Cartagena) in end of April. It was an absolutely wonderful day spent there - a truly unexpected treat. We docked at the port a bit outside town, but the city provided free shuttle buses back and forth that took only 15 minutes or so and dropped you right in town. We had looked up touring Tarragona ahead of time and found some interesting Youtube videos that really helped us. It is quite an interesting town and not so swamped by tourists and cruise ships (at least when we were there). It is certainly well known for all the amazingly preserved Roman ruins, but we also enjoyed just strolling along "the balcony" - which is a long stretch way above the ocean that has amazing views of the Mediterranean. We wound up walking a lot, just wandering around and exploring the city - quite fascinating. So did not take any public transportation. I would recommend seeing the various Roman Ruins . Our port shuttle bus dropped us right by the famous Roman Amphitheatre. There is a special that you can buy ticketwise that lets you visit the 4 major sites, including the Forum, Amphitheatre, an amazing Museum of the ruins, as well as the Torre de les monges (nun's tower) where you can have some incredible views. Check out: https://www.tarragonaturisme.cat/en Here are some pictures that show the beauty of this wonderful port.
