OBC use in casino

Here is what I would do.  I understand that NCL deducts charges first from your non-refundable obc, then your refundable obc, then your credit card.  To prove my point and that of all the other people who agree with me that non-refundable obc CAN BE USED IN A SLOT MACHINE - simply withdraw from your account at the slot machine $10 to transfer into the slot machine  - then check your account  balance later either on the TV or at the service desk if you have to.  So if you had $300 non-refundable obc - and it now shows $290 (not counting 3% entertainment charge) non-refundable obc that should prove I am correct and not MISLEADING people and you can safely get the rest!  My last cruise consisted of using my stock obc credit and Latitudes obs credit against both the DSC and the slots.  What I will admit is confusing to me is I thought non-refundable obc could NOT be used against DSC.  So if anyone can enlighten me on this (nicely please) I would appreciate it!

Thanks, ddlb. I'll do that early on in the cruise to see if it works. I will have no other OBC and the DSC has been paid in advance by my TA. If anyone else on an earlier cruise (mine is Dec 2019) wants to try this and report back it would be appreciated.

I have always been confused about the use of OBC in the casino.  I too have $100 with the booking. 

 

Last time I could not think what to do with it, so we went for a meal in one of the speciality restaurants.  It was a good use of the money.  There was still some money left over so I went to the gift shop and found a nice purse that would have been too expensive for me, but with the OBC left over it came at the sort of price I would normally pay.  I was happy.  

 

Prices in the Spa tend to be too expensive for me in comparison to what I pay at home.  I begrudge that.  I don't need (more) photos.  A shuttle or excursion might use up some of the money.

Non Refundable OBC CANNOT be used to pay DSC.

 It may be used for gratuity vouchers for staff. We have done this in the past. If in Suites or Haven, you can ask for gratuity voucher for butler or concierge , provide name of employee and amount. They give you a copy to give employee and it comes out of OBC. You can do this also for room stewards, bar staff, restaurant staff etc. You just need their first and last name.

I have also extracted funds from casino , using non refundable OBC, and then deposited cash into onboard account at guest relations. This cash deposit off sets DSC.  OR

Keep cash and just pay DSC with credit card. 

On our upcoming cruise we have $200 Non Refundable OBC (no idea why but, I am grateful).   plan to extract at casino and use cash for cash tips. (I don't mind the 3%, as it is free money anyway)

Since it is a "new" ship and not Jewel Class, it will be a new experience for me getting it out of the slots. On older ships, I just went to Casino cashier and asked for cash to be charged to  onboard account.
