TMLAalum Posted July 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2019 We will be on a Danube river cruise in November. Prior to boarding the Avalon Illumination, we will spend a week in Germany near to Liege & Maastricht, then 3 nights in France as we mosey toward 3 nights in Lucerne before boarding in Nuremberg. Car rental from FRA to Nuremberg city was booked months ago via Holiday Autos with Europcar the provider. Just recently found a caveat in the contract that "No International Crossings are Permitted" I will contact Europcar directly since Holiday could only refer me back to the contract wording. It's been awhile since we rented a car in Europe and went from one country to another- there was no issue those previous times. Can anyone suggest a European car rental company that allows us to travel from one EU country to another?
John Bull Posted July 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2019 Sounds very strange. Especially between Germany & France Other than some agencies not allowing the taking of Italian cars into some Balkan countries, and sometimes a fee for out-of-country use, this is something I've not experienced in Europe. And I don't see the restriction in Europcar's standard terms (term 3) https://www.europcar.co.uk/files/live/sites/Europcar/files/Conf_email_attachment/CGL_EN_ES.pdf This is collect in Germany & return in Germany? Where did you see the restriction? And is this a standard vehicle type? JB
