POA Debark Process

We got back last week. You had the option to walk off with your own luggage or leave your bags outside the room the night before and claim them once you’d left the ship the following morning. You collect bag tags the day before and this corresponds with where you wait to be called to disembark.

There was no customs process as you left the ship.

When you get to the airport you get scanned before you can check in. You get an orange tag on the handle of your case, then you check in, then you go through. There were huge lines and it took ages and it was outside and it was hot and horrible! Leave loads of time!!

As you don't dock at a foreign port port, there is no Customs (the easier item) , or Immigration, (the harder, more time consuming activity) procedures. Please understand the difference between Customs and Immigration procedures. Putting your bags out the night before has NOTHING to do with Customs (or Immigration). It just simplifies you having to carry your bags off.

As discussed here recently, you will have an Ag check at the airport. First, your checked bag will go through an additional screening (xray) and MUST receive a special approval tag before you check that bag. Then, as you approach your gate, your carry on will be xrayed again (after TSA). No special tag, but you must pass this screening.

We visit Hawaii at least once a year, sometimes twice. This process takes a few extra minutes...maybe 15 tops. Nothing major, but something you have to do.
