Aft balcony on radiance of the seas

Can anyone give me info on an aft balcony. Is it roomy? Is it noisy?

I can only speak to Deck 10. The balconies in the JS, D-1 and GS categories are all much larger than those along the port or starboard sides. They all have room for a couple of lounge chairs in addition to a pair of standard chairs and a table.

 

Not noisy at all, unless you consider the current created by the ship to be noise." The outdoor dining area of the Windjammer Cafe is directly above, but we've never been unduly bothered by any noise. Be aware that, if you are standing at the railing, the pax above can see you from the waist up. But if you're closer to the door of the cabin, nobody except a nosy neighbor peering around the divider will be able to see you.

 

It is a hike back to your cabin, especially late at night, but we think it's totally worth it. It's a touch rockier, but not so much so to make the ride unpleasant, IMHO. Others may disagree.

 

And the Radiance class vessels are very clean-burning, so you will NOT get any soot on your balcony, a sometimes complaint on the older ships.

We were in an D1 aft balcony on deck 9 on the Radiance on our cruise in Alaska. It was perfect for that cruise with the large balcony and the fact we could see both sides going thru the inside passage. The other benefit is that there is very little passenger traffic near the cabins and since they're 100+ yards from the elevators, you can have some extra dessert.

We always try to get either an aft balcony or one on the hump. Those are the best cabins on any ship as far as we are concerned.

Biggest benefit is the larger balcony, great any way you look at it.
