Yes, you might (might) get more use from your balcony if it was covered -- but I don't know of a resource telling which ones are... only that review on halfacts of 065 mentioned that it was open to the sky.

Yes!  CLICK HERE to see Maasdam 045.  That is a Neptune suite so your balcony won't be as large but the overhang will be the same.

p.s. - you asked about the word "overhang".  It is the part that "hangs over" the outside of the ship, past your railing.

I think I'd prefer the overhang, looks a bit more protected if we had rain etc? Thank you again for your replies.

Probably.  We had a deck 8 verandah on the N.A. with a large Lido overhang and liked the extra shade it gave.
