GottaLuvCruising Posted August 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2019 I'd really appreciate some assistance in choosing a stateroom. I'll do a balcony or a minisuite on Island Princess. My priority is a larger balcony that is fully covered...do any exist? Which category or location(s)? TIA

Yes, It's completely covered and about 50 square feet. It's also teak, as opposed to the hard blue plastic on the other decks. This website may be of help to you also, https://sites.google.com/site/cabinviewbyrenmar/ This one shows all of the balconies, http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/Princess/odell/res76zxu/princessbalconies/index.html Edited August 19, 2019 by partybarbie

I'll bookmark it for future reference. Hubby and I have both had numerous skin cancers and we try to avoid the sun. A covered balcony is our best option. We LOVE the Deck 15 mid-aft and aft balconies and mini-suites on the Royal / Regal because they have an extended roof, making the balcony usable almost all the time!
NavyVeteran Posted August 19, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2019 The Island Princess changed the aft of the Promenade Deck to cabins. The bad news is that this took away the full promenade and increased the number of passengers while reducing the public space. However, for those who book the balcony cabins on this deck, you get a large fully covered teak balcony that used to be part of the promenade. My recommendation to OP would be to get any cabin on the Promenade Deck.
Colo Cruiser Posted August 19, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2019 4 hours ago, GottaLuvCruising said: Thank you very much! It is the aft side section of the promenade deck which was closed off and made into cabins. Notice the teak flooring on the balcony which is the old promenade decking. During canal transits some of these balconies are off limits due to the steel cables that run down to the train/mules.
