Carnival Freedom Aft Balcony Shade

If you book one on deck 8 you will get some shade (unless the sun is mostly behind you) from the overhang of deck 9 above you.  The cabins on the lower decks don't have an overhang.

The view is amazing.  I don't know of any other way to mitigate the effect of the sun.

We were in cabin 7446 on the Freedom and there was not a lot of shade, but there was enough to have your head and shoulders in shade if you wanted to. We did not notice vibration at all.

Thanks for the info. We will be in 7453 in April. Looking forward to it. It will be her first cruise and my first balcony room!
