Cabana Rental and BYOB ?

Wondering if you can buy a bottle at the duty free in Amber Cove and take it to your Cabana?

I'm sure somewhere in the "terms & agreements" there is a line prohibiting BYOB, whether you brought it off the ship or at the duty free in Amber Cover (genius idea by the way). However I would imagine it is very loosely enforced. Both times I've had cabanas I BYOB'd from the ship using my s/o's leftover drinks each day on her cheers package, at Half Moon Cay and in a ocean cabana at Amber Cove. I just recommend discretion, hide the bottle in a beach bag and put it back in there after making a drink. Obviously don't make a drink while the cabana attendant is walking around taking drink/food orders. If you request a bucket of ice and cups to make the drinks in (kind of a give-away as to what you are doing) maybe tip generously to buy the attendant's silence, a $20 should do the trick and keep the ice bucket filled all day. Enjoy!

Too funny.  I hadn't even thought of this.  We have cheers, have a cabana booked and also have a couple bottles for the stateroom.  Use it or lose it.

Why would he care and how does he know if you bought the liquor from the ship?

I have only had cheers once so I am new to the "tricks"  but how do you save leftover drinks each day?   I probably wouldn't anyway because I am a little too lazy on vacation and wouldn't go through the trouble (haha) but I couldn't even think how you would do that.

My husband asked me the same question when we were on the Magic in May in Grand Turk & Amber Cove.  Why wouldn't folks just buy a bottle at the port store and take it to the pool at either port?  We didn't but I also wonder, have others done this?  Seems simple enough.  Have a few shots or order a soda and toss in a little rum.

Wouldn't your waiter care if you went to a restaurant with a bar, but BYOB'd? If you don't order anything from the bar/kitchen, there's no bill, they don't get tipped.

If you're friendly with a bartender you can ask for the beers to be unopened, by the rules they are supposed to open them for you to combat people stocking up with their cheers package, however a couple singles or a $5 goes a long way.

 

Simpler way, especially if you are looking for liquor for mixed drinks with soda's while in port, order a shot(neat) of your preferred liquor, walk away from the bar, pour it in an empty water bottle like the college days.

The bars get nuts when you ask them not to open your beer. 

I found two ways to get class beers. 

1. Casino while you play - they don’t open the can. 

2. Coffee shop sells the carnival canned beer and they did not open the can. Actually took some home as I love that stuff.

In Colorado it is against the law. No one said they weren't going to eat food. Would it be OK if they brought their $100 bottle of vodka bought on board?

We tried this in Grand Turk, the duty free store would keep the bottle until just before the ship left.

Yes you can in fact purchase a bottle as you are moving thru Duty Free to enjoy while you are in port (we have done it in Grand Turk & Amber Cove). if you do not drink all of it -it will be taken as you board the ship not sure if open containers are returned at the end of the cruise as we've never had this issue - we drink whatever we open .

We bought a bottle ahead of sailing from carnival, took the opened bottle off at HMC, enjoyed our drinks at the cabana, and put it back in our beach bag, brought it back on board. As someone mentioned, discretion is key.

 

never thought about buys one at duty free to drink at port...

but we did stop at a liquor store in Nassau before heading to the resort we were enjoying...
