back to the islands Posted September 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Has anybody done snorkeling at either Pago Pago, American Samoa or Apia, Samoa? Our cruise doesn't offer anything at either port. Snorkeling excursions or places we can taxi, bus, or drive to? I saw Tisa's Barefoot Bar in Pago Pago, but $225 per person seemed steep. Any help on these 2 ports would be appreciated!
SinbadThePorter Posted September 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2019 From Apia you could grab a taxi out to the To Sua swimming hole.

Thank you Sinbad. I looked at this, but my husband had both knees replaced this past winter and he isn't sure his knees can do that ladder ... and heights sometimes scare me. That's a pretty tall ladder isn't it? Any other suggestions?
SinbadThePorter Posted September 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2019 You could try the Palolo Deep Marine Reserve at Apia. It's quite near where the ship docks, but the water quality can be variable and it's pretty shallow at low tide.
back to the islands Posted September 25, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted September 25, 2019 Thank you again, Sinbad! From what I've read it's a short taxi ride from the pier. Is there someplace I can find a tides chart for Apia 6 months out?

back to the islands Posted September 26, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted September 26, 2019 Thank you so much, Sinbad! Exactly what I needed! So if high tide is at 7:25AM and we get there and swim out will we be have time to get back in before it's too shallow?

You should have at least two hours either side of high tide when it is comfortable to snorkel.
