cos24 Posted September 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2019 I have read in some posts that some people do both the train and fjord cruise in one day. We are on the Celebrity Silhouette for one day in Flam on July 1 from 9am - 4pm. Looked online and based on current Flam railway and Nærøyfjord boat ride schedules I don't think we can do both on our own in that time frame if we have to be back on the I ship by 3:30, unless I am missing something? Thanks
mhb1757 Posted September 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2019 I think you would be hard pressed to do both in that short of a time because after the fjord Cruise you would have to either cruise back to Flam or take a bus back from Gudvangen. If you have to choose one I would recommend the fjord cruise. The train will be packed with ship passengers and while it is truly a very scenic ride I think the fjord trip is even more spectacular and far less likely to be packed out. hallasm Posted September 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Agree with mhb1757 - too tight schedule when 9am to 4pm- also depend on ship is docked or tendering. Both excursions are two hours - in addition shuttle from Gudvangen to Flåm I have attached 2019 timetables assuming that times will be similar for 2020. What is the difference between "premium low" and premium, and classic on the cruise. Also, for the shuttle buses, can you buy tickets from the driver? It is pretty obvious where to pick up the shuttle? What does it look like? Thanks.
hallasm Posted September 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2019 (edited) Premium and Classic is the type of ferry - depending on departure time. If you want to do the cruise I’ll suggest that you book both the ferry and the shuttle bus at the web. Note that the ferry is sailing in both directions from Flåm and/or Gudvangen. The shuttle bus can be any type of bus - will be marked with a signin the front screen. In addition to the shuttle also public busses - Nettbuss VY450 as well as Nor-way bussexpres NW162 and NW420. Also available at the web. Edited September 15, 2019 by hallasm

hallasm Posted September 18, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2019 I do not have the current price - ticket can be bought at the bus - they do accept Visa and MasterCard (Chip and Pin card) Time from Gudvangen to Flåm is 22 minutes More information: vy.no For search use: Aurland (Gudvangen E16) Aurland (Flåm stasjon)
