amberjohn Posted September 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2019 We just found out our ship gets into San Juan at 4pm instead of early in the morning. What will be open to see late afternoon and early evenings? Is it worth getting off the ship that late? thanks
Rare crewsweeper Posted September 19, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2019 Forts close at 5P through November, the open til 6P from December to May. All the shops and restaurants will be open. Could be a bit late for the beach, but look at the possibility of doing the bioluminescent tour. Or a sunset sail.
pdc2013 Posted September 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2019 I agree, if the forts are not your thing going to the beach and having drinks and an early dinner is not that bad either. If you never went to the forts though, should be a stop and you will have a little of time of you disembark fast enough... 🙂

Are the forts still open? What else is open?

Stinger-pr Posted September 25, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2019 If I'm not mistaken, the forts close at 6pm, regardless of the season. I have always wondered why they don't extend the summer hours until 7pm since there's quite enough sunlight time left after that hour from May to August. You should be one of the first in line to leave the ship once it docks and, if no one in you party has any mobility issues, walk to San Cristobal fort. It's a 10 minute walk north from the ship but mostly uphill. If you want to visit El Morro and maximize your time there take a quick taxi ride to the fort and enjoy San Juan walking back to the ship.
