Midship balcony vs mini suite on Epic

We are considering upgrading to a mini suite. The cost would be about $400. Do you think it would be worth it? Any advice would be appreciated!

The room space on a balcony and mini suite is about the same. The minisuites have a "tub sized" shower stall vs. a fairly narrow "transporter tube" shower stall. Same is true of the toilet stall on the opposite wall (something the size of an airplane toilet vs. something you can stretch your legs out a bit). Remember, on the Epic, there is no bathroom. Just the two stalls on opposite walls and the tiny sink at the foot of the bed. As we have got older and less flexible, we always book minis on the bigger ships for the bigger shower/tub.

Epic Minisuite (with tub - most do not have tubs)

They were. NCL cancelled the second ship of this class!

What astounds me is that the toilets in the solo cabins have the usual non-see-through walls. So the designer obviously thought solos needed more privacy than people sharing a cabin.

One thing to be aware of the minis, and pretty much all spa cabins, on the top accommodation deck is that they're right under the pool deck and can be quite noisy. The minis on other decks are fine.
