Casino change for free play

We have always earned $10 in free play after earning 1000 points.  Apparantly this just (like early Summer) was dropped.  We did not get it last week on the Amsterdam and the casino host said it was fleet wide - has anyone else experienced this?

Same thing on the Volendam early this year. I was told the change occurred in Jan.

Hmmm..  I got the $10 credit on the Prinsendam in April and May this year.

Of course, Prinsendam didn’t always follow the rules 😉

Those $10 of free play must have really been breaking the bank 🙄😱

I think the casinos onboard are operated by a contractor who supplies the personnel and handles the money.  HAL provides the tables and machines, the floor space, and they get a percentage of the action.   So, this change in policy might not be HAL, it may be the contractor's choice.

I've been on the Zuiderdam since 30 July and was told they did away with the $10 free play for 1000 points in early July.  I asked if anything was being put in it's place and the casino manager said there would casino credits for bookings based on your time/money spent in the casino (no facts...just a statement).

We were told that as well and what we got was $50 in free play on our next cruise.  HOWEVER, it was very restrictive (new bookings only and must take cruise within 6 months), so useless to us.

Ditto.  Either I’m not sailing for another year, or the cruise is already booked.

However, I do like the casino discount when it applies.

True - the casino discount on our fares is much more valuable (than the free play) and is more flexible than getting the free cabin offers.
