Discrimination for solo booking

Recommended Posts

Just a query for those who put a "phantom" name how do you get around the on line check in and passport number request? Maybe it isnt essential to do the online check in part.

We had a genuine case of twin going to solo on a Japan cruise on the diamond.  At the last minute one person became very I'll and unable to fly.  On check in the other advised her friend wasn't able to travel.  No problem at all and the non travelling person claimed all expenses on her travel insurance.  The cruise was only part of an extended trip around Japan so it was quite a large insurance claim on her free credit card NAB policy which was processed very quickly.

GUT I would put 200% confidence in you representing me if the need ever arose.

the cruise lines are far too savvy and aware of the ramifications to be involved in such practices. The rooms were being sold on a twin share basis. End of story.

Although as posted earlier, I agree with your general stance on this topic, it's not because of faith in cruise line practices.

The price advertising of some cruise lines is not compliant with Australian standards, but some continue to post misleading sale prices nonetheless.

Thanks to be honest it would depend on what the case was.Workers Comp or personal injury, no way I haven’t done one for so long. Contract dispute, yep, most crime, yep,  Divorce fine, Wills and Estates, bread and butter to me. But most law is becoming so specialised for Barristers you can only be at the very top of your game in a couple of areas, sure advocacy remains the same but the procedures and intricacies of complex litigation is just too specialised to be a gun in all areas.

On line check in is not compulsory and the passport is scanned  and verified at the terminal. You only need to arrive at the terminal with proof of booking.

Are you sure this was not just a misunderstanding issue ie the agent thought you were talking about 'solo cabins' ie cabins for just 1, rather than saying you couldn't book a twin cabin just for one?

Unlikely, I have had this issue a few times on the P&O site.
