fairydustca Posted February 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2006 I have a question about HAL- Oosterdam afts. If anyone has sailed in any of these cabins, I would love to hear from you. We just returned from Carnival and had a Riviera OV aft 2471. As many on this board, we loved the aft location, so we just booked an extended aft balcony on the Oosterdam, cabin VA7127 for a Dec. cruise to Mexico. This balcony should be huge, and I am very thrilled. My question is: It states that these aft balconies are "56 feet to stern". Does this mean we will be so far away from the back of the ship, that we won't have a good water view? Would we be better off moving down to a much lower deck so that we are closer to the stern? Thanks!! Sheffie Posted February 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2006 You might get more answers if you post this over on the HAL board. Just a suggestion.
fairydustca Posted February 1, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted February 1, 2006 :o Thanks, Michelle. I did that and also posted in Cabin Selection. Hopefully, I will hear from some cruisers. Thanks!
Arwenmark Posted February 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2006 If you want to be able to look more or less down into the water then by all means move down. You will get a good overview of things where you are including the balconies below you.
Sheffie Posted February 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2006 You could also do a search on http://www.webshots.com for that ship. I found pictures of other "afts" that way. It is amazing the different ways these ships are configured!
doone Posted February 2, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2006 I had a corner aft suite on the Zuiderdam. We loved the extra verandah space and the location. If you have a walking problem, this may not be the location you want to be as it can be a long walk to certain areas of the ship.
