Smoking Question

I know it's the worst thing you can do to your body but my sister smokes and we are thinking of the quick 3 day Fascination cruise. If we book an inside can she smoke in our cabin or is smoking only allowed in cabins with balconies?

i could think of worse things. Check with the cruiseline to be sure about in-cabin smoking. It varies from line to line and/or ship to ship.

yup, it's a-ok. I wanted to ask my pvp about it and forgot because when I was pricing cabins it said something about 'smoking preference not supported' or some such. Anyway I was going to call and tell her to make sure we got a 'smoking' cabin and I was reading something...either something on Carnival's website or else the terms and conditions that my pvp had sent me and it was there that guests can smoke in their cabins.

Not only that but there are smoking sides of the ships in some public open areas. A cigar bar that has smoking. She can probably find spots to smoke so that she does not have to smoke in a small cabin.

I previously had been a smoker for years. Not smoking now for less than a year, no one is more sensative to smoke then me, for reasons different from thoes who are allergic... I still have a pretty strong desire to smoke, and try to stay away from smoke, less it tempt me.The smokers on the ship did not bother me. There are enough open areas that smokers can go, and non smokers can go where there is not smoke...

She should be just fine.

Hi w8ing all my family smokes except my wife and I we put all of them in the same room. Have you all been doing well. It has been 10 months Friday since we sailed the ocean blue. Look for you here for a year or at least 10 months. Glad to see you going again.

W8 - Yep, as you have been told above, smoking is allowed in all Carnival cabins. Ashtrays aren't in the cabins, so ask the steward for one. (I take my own small plastic patio ashtray because they hold the cigarette more securely; the ones the ships provide are those square glass ones that the cigs can roll off of.):o Mine are safer. You might want to tell your sister to bring a small can of Lysol or some type room spray. I do that - only because I don't want the cabin steward to be stifled whenever he walks into my cabin.;)

And people say that we are thoughtless and in general inconsiderate...

Thank you, Cotton, for showing that some of us nasty smokers still do care about other people ;)

If you go into your bathroom, just above the toilet is a vent. If you need to smoke inside the cabin, and want to reduce the spread of the smoke, blow the exhaled smoke into this vent. When nature calls you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

It works well.

Anybody else get the impression that Jack is an efficiency expert?:) ;)

And, at the risk of this turning into one of "those threads" (besides, somebody above tried to do that already), I would like to add my support to cotton and psycoma. Not all smokers are inconsiderate.

To w8ing2cruz and your family... enjoy your cruise!!

As a non-smoker I had no idea that Carnival allowed smoking in the cabins. I assumed that smoking was only permitted on open decks. Since I have sailed with them a few times and have never smelled smoke in the halls or in my cabin I would suspect that most smokers are still refraining from doing so in the cabin (or they are going out on the balcony).

Since everyone seems to be so helpful here, I thought I'd ask another (newbie) question. How many places to smoke are there around the ship?

I'm going on Celebrity's Mercury and staying in a room with non-smokers, so smoking in the room isn't an option. I'm also not really a drinker, so I didn't want to have to go buy a drink in the bars just to smoke. Are there plenty of places around the ship without me having to go to the bar?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Frch - You're on the Carnival board, so I'm not sure about Celebrity....but I can answer for Carnival.

Although there is no smoking (and I am all for this) in any dining room or buffet area, nor in the main showlounge, there are many lounges that allow smoking. Smoking is also allowed in the casino and on any outside deck. The pool areas, there is one side designated smoking and other non. Wherever you see ashtrays, feel free to puff away.

You will find answers specifically about Celebrity ships on the Celebrity board. But you're welcome to stay and play with us!:)

Thank you for the welcome! :)

I realized I was on the wrong board after I posted but I figured most of the bigger cruise lines are similar. You Carnival people just seem so nice, I might stay and play here some more. :D
