I honestly don't recall exactly. Just asked the wife, and she doesn't recall either. But I'm thinking it was around 2-3 weeks. Sorry I can't be of more help. Does your settlement statement give you any clues as to when the refund will be mailed out?

I didn't look at it very closely. I'll have to look and see. If I can remember what we did with it. LOL But if you think yours took 2 or 3 weeks, then we're probably ok. This weekend will be 3 weeks. I'll give it till the new year and call if it hasn't come by then. I would've cashed out in the casino, but since we're going in March, I didn't mind getting another gift card.

If you use a travel agent, it Iis different.

If your travel agent takes carnival gift cards, you can call the travel agent to have gratuities added, and then use gift cards.

If you have a travel agent, you can still go on the website to pay the gratuities then and there, but it will not be added to your overall balance. I have no clue why, but this screen does not give the option of using gift cards. I just looked, and the two choices were credit card and master pass.

Ok I think this is what I did wrong (sorry I'm a noob here) I booked thru a TA,so I only get a screen with option of paypal or cc to prepay gratuities. I guess I'll just use the gc's I got as cruise cash, and that will cover the gratuities once onboard. Thanks

That seems like a long time to me to get your gift card refund. Mine always show up a couple days after I have gotten back from the cruise via FEDEX 2nd day air. My last refund was a bit over 200 dollars. Maybe the amount has some bearing on the speed of refund?

Now you have me wondering again. I checked the final S&S statement and it just says they'll mail a check (or in our case, gift card) for the remaining balance to the address on file. It doesn't specify how long it'll take. Maybe I'll call them in the next few days just to make sure there's a refund in the system.

I think that's a good idea. 👍

It is not wrong to use a TA, that is simply a choice.  Depending on the TA (we used a big box store), you can call them, have them add the grats, and have them paid for at that time with the GC, or you can purchase cruise cash, or take them onboard.

Come to find out, the refund gift card came about a week after we got home. My wife neglected to tell me. 🙄 I'm glad I didn't call Carnival and ask where the heck our gift card was. LOL

Glad it worked out. Carnival has always been good at getting me my gift card money back with the exception of a cheers refund because we had a no show on our 4 person room. I had to call to get the ball rolling but after that it went fairly quick.

Instead of waiting for a gift card, we went to the casino and added the amount of our S&S balance onto a slot machine, spent a few dollars and ten cashed the whole amount out at the cashier.

I mentioned above that I know about cashing out in the casino, but with another cruise coming in March, I didn't mind getting the refunded gift card.
