Following is what I was told: 1. There is an ATM in the casino. Each withdrawal is charged a flat fee of $6 per transaction regardless of the amount. This doesn’t include any of your bank’s fees. 2. American Express traveler checks, and only American Express, may be cashed at reception at par, no fee applies. 3. Cash advances against your registered credit card may be taken for a 5% transaction fee. 4. Refundable on board credit may be “cashed out” but ONLY one or two days prior to the end of the cruise. Happy sailing! Thanks for your help. With this info, I can now do some planning. Mia
Mura Posted December 21, 2019 #77 Share Posted December 21, 2019 Back to our problem in Barcelona some years ago ... I'm referring to "call or write as soon as possible". In our case we were maybe a 10 minute walk from our hotel so we returned immediately. And we knew immediately when it happened, which might not have been the case if we'd been pickpocketed on the subway -- which happened to me (only it was on a tram) in Prague in 1998. Our hotel cooperated and was most helpful. The desk clerk was even CONCERNED! Clearly it helps to know when the theft occurred so you can act immediately ... and as several have said, that isn't always possible. It's hard to believe that a hotel would tell a customer after a mugging that they couldn't place a call for you! I don't care how many stars that hotel had! (That's not to say I don't believe the story! I do!) Also, Clo, while we usually agree I don't think I'd depend on the internet either to report such a problem! I might if that was my only choice, however ... Likewise, we always travel with photocopies of both sides of our credit cards just in case, and we notify the companies that we will be away -- for how long and in which countries. We also only use our debit cards for retrieving cash from ATMs ... and NEVER credit cards with ATMs ... so purchases are made with credit cards (or cash), and cash from a ATM is with the debit cards. There was an exchange of messages and therefore a permanent record.
