chefjer Posted January 9, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) Is there a public transport option to the port of Los Angeles or an alternative to the $20 per day parking? Edited January 9, 2020 by chefjer left out word
riffatsea Posted January 9, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2020 It would be great if you could be more specific like telling us where you are starting from etc? There is not really a great public transit option to get to San Pedro if that is the port you mean in LA. Since you live in SoCal you know that buses are most frequently used as public transit and they are not easy to use with luggage!! The only alternative I know to the parking garage fee is to pay for a hotel and parking option offered at one of the nearby hotels. IF you mean San Pedro then the hotels most often used are the Crowne Plaza, the Doubletree San Pedro and the Best Western San Pedro. Depending on your dates they may not be inexpensive! Jojiboy Posted January 9, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2020 Or arrange for one of the ride-sharing services (Uber, Lyft, etc.) to take you to whichever port you need to go.
Splinter Posted January 15, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) Depending on where you are in SoCal, you might find a friend to drive you to the pier, and pick you up upon return. My parents lived in nearby Redondo Beach and did this all the time when cruising out of San Pedro...never cruised out of Long Beach, but it should be pretty much the same. Otherwise, Uber/Lyft would be your best option. Edited January 15, 2020 by Splinter
AgentMinusOne Posted January 17, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2020 Are you coming from LAX or downtown Los Angeles? There is public transportation, but you would have to be adventurous to use it. From terminals at LAX you would first need to get a shuttle to the Green Line Aviation/LAX station, from there the Metro train to Harbor Freeway, and from there Silver Line express bus down to San Pedro. Alight at Harbor Beacon Park Ride Southbound, and walk a few minutes to Pier 92/93.
AgentMinusOne Posted January 17, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2020 Metro Silver Line bus network map found at https://media.metro.net/projects_studies/silverline/images/map_silverline_overview.pdf A single fare is $2.50 as Silver Line is considered to be an express line.
