SecretFruity Posted January 15, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Has anyone been on the Windstar James Beard West Coast cruise from San Diego to Vancouver? We are not foodies in particular, but want to stay stateside this summer and love the West Coast scenery, so we are considering it. How would you review it? How were the ports and were the main towns accessible to visit without going on an excursion? Is the scenery beautiful?

Same goes for Seattle, Vancouver etc. IMO, the palisading NorCal shoreline is just plain gorgeous (though, of course, it pales in comparison to Kauai's NaPali coast). You haven't mentioned your ports but, they may include Santa Barbara (quaint and downtown is walkable), Monterey (worth the walk to the best aquarium in the world) and San Francisco (Anerica's favorite city) with plenty of DIY things to see and do (sailing under the GGB at sunset - wonderful). The only caveat (as any ocean sailor on the left coast will tell you) is that "beating to weather" (northbound) occasionally can be an "interesting" experience. Bottom line is that it's the Pacific - smooth until it's not.
