wvsails Posted January 21, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2020 Hello, We're scheduled on the Silver Explorer for Antarctica in late February. What is the temperature like inside the ship (dining room, lounge, etc.)? Is it comfortable, hot or cold? I've spent loads of time planning what to wear on expedition, but it may be worse to pack the wrong weight of clothes for dinner and lectures. carefreecruise Posted January 21, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2020 Your over thinking this one. The ship is small and old but it still has working windows and doors. The hotel director will keep it comfortable for you and you can regulate the temperature in your own cabin to your desire.
tgh Posted January 21, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2020 To be fair to the op …. the public areas of the ship are always comfortable enough but the temps do vary from place to place, so a very light sweater or cardigan may be useful especially if one is sensitive to temp changes. As I understand it , the ship has always had some suite temperature control issues , not huge differences but enough to be annoying for some folks.
wvsails Posted January 25, 2020 Author #4 Share Posted January 25, 2020 Thank you both. Yes, I do overthink. What's struck me about this cruise as opposed to others is that I won't be getting off at the next port to buy what I didn't realize I needed until I was onboard.
Rare RachelG Posted January 26, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2020 I have always been comfortable onboard, and I am a person who tends to feel cold easily.
